Battlefield 6 Players Agree: Missions Are Excessively Difficult

The launch of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 received broad praise, particularly for its premier multiplayer mode. Just on Steam, concurrent player counts reached a high of nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, despite its popularity, an increasing amount of players are voicing discontent with some of the game's toughest challenges, which are required to obtain particular firearms.

Gamers have begun resorting to personalized games set up using Battlefield Portal to finish these tasks, emphasizing just how arduous these assignments have become.

Understanding Battlefield 6 Objectives

Assignments are Battlefield 6's fixed in-game challenges, different from the periodically changed daily and weekly challenges. The game includes four types of assignments, but while the majority simply offer cosmetics and some tools, completing the weapon assignments is the sole method of acquiring 12 of the 41 primary weapons present in the game.

Several of these gated guns may soon make their appearance on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry across Reddit

On Reddit, players are reasonably expressing their worries about how challenging and repetitive several of these challenges are. An individual player highlighted one of the most egregious examples, required to unlock the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Cause 10,000 non-ADS damage with LMGs

"This mission is so atrocious and totally unreasonable, I want to scream in frustration," is a statement that captures just how excessively challenging these tasks are.

Suppression in Battlefield is more diminished than before in the series, so it has significantly fewer positive effects in fights as it did in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you fire a burst without hitting the target.

Additionally, using an LMG from the hip is highly imprecise and is effective only at point-blank proximity, which is seldom the location you want to be. That player also pointed out the paradox in the SMG challenge, needed to obtain the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that task would be far more appropriate to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Overly Demanding Mission

One more community participant brought attention to another ridiculously tough challenge, within the long-range weapon type to obtain the PSR:

  • Get 150 headshot kills beyond 200 meters with marksman guns

This is difficult enough on its own, but there's one more key thing to consider: the majority of Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at those extended distances.

There is a decent selection of map sizes, but given there are merely nine battlegrounds in the game at present, it restricts you to playing New Sobek City, a particular valley environment, and maybe a classic map if you're lucky if you plan to engage from afar from a significant distance.

The Workaround

However, there is a solution: Battlefield Portal. This portal feature is a feature that enables you to design tailored experiences on any map you prefer, including AI opponents. This implies you can exploit the mechanics… but it doesn't really seem like the intended gameplay experience.

Yet, if doing the challenges in a standard match feels like anti-playing, since you have to play in such an atypical style that doesn't benefit you or your team, is it surprising for finishing these in a custom game so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Potential Changes

It won't come as a surprise if a number of these missions are made easier in the next few updates, because unless they are modified, some players simply are unlikely to obtain the restricted guns.

Currently, the player base continues to voice their opinions on these challenging battlefield assignments, expecting a more balanced overall gameplay in subsequent patches.
