England update: Quansah ruled out

The defender will be absent from England's FIFA World Cup qualifier against Latvia due to a physical issue and the player – who did not participate in England's 3-0 exhibition victory over Wales at Wembley – will head back to his team Bayer Leverkusen.

The former Liverpool defender has been a regular in the team's defence this season but England said no additional squad additions were planned for the qualifier in the Latvian capital on this Tuesday.

England could qualify for the upcoming World Cup with two matches to remaining if they beat their opponents on Tuesday and results elsewhere in their qualifying group go their way.

Overview

This is make or break for the Irish team, though their opportunities of making it to the World Cup may already be finished. A familiar figure in Cristiano Ronaldo greets them, and the Portuguese squad are top of Group F. At Sporting Club’s stadium, Ireland face a huge challenge.

Another key match will be reigning European champions Spain, who have won all their matches so far in Group E, against the Georgian team, who have not yet earned a place for a finals and are aiming for the playoffs. The Georgian attacker has been a doubt and the Premier League club supporters will get a chance to see Giorgi Mamardashvili.
